LOVE this!! Exactly why I live on a tiny island in the Salish Sea with no big box stores, sidewalks or streetlights. Exactly why I tend a tiny homestead and grow as much of my food as I can. And harvest, and preserve. Chat with neighbors tending their property when I take my Sheltie for our daily hour walk. At this time of year, never seeing a car during that walk. Thank you Laura for this lovely post. Totally with you.
I love reading this, Marilyn! Thank you for all you and your family have done to make this town what it is and will continue to be! With love always, Laura
Such a great post, Laura. Your reference to the hardware store always makes me smile big! I don’t think we need to worry too much about franchises taking over our beautiful little town. Thanks to the hard work, decades ago, of community visionaries on our town council who understood the forces that would destroy our vibrant business community, we have city ordinances preventing big box stores and franchises from consuming our town.
As Whitefish changes and evolves, opening its arms to newcomers who bring their own dreams and aspirations, my hope is that we continue to work together to create a place to live and grow and raise our kids in the natural beauty and community that surrounds us.
So grateful for you, Laura. You’re one of our town treasures. ❤️🙏
